4 Ways A Website Writer Can Boost Your Business

Pro Website Writer

Even above the quality of the products and services you offer, business success often comes down to the quality of your business communication. That\’s where a website writer can make all the difference in your bottom line.

Whether you hire a website writer to create your website and blog content, or to produce all of your business and marketing communications, a good website writer can build a relationship with prospects that converts them into customers by giving your business a compelling, consistent, and trustworthy message.

This article looks at four ways a website writer can help boost your business.

Gives You A Professional Image

You might not know it, but if your website has dead links, grammar issues, spelling errors, and blah copy that doesn\’t grab the attention of your visitors, you\’re losing customers every day. A website writer can give a troubled website a professional image that puts a stop to losing so many potential customers for good.

By writing cohesive, engaging copy where every word sells and encourages visitors to take action, a website writer can increase sales simply by keeping visitors on your website longer and building their trust so they\’re more likely to make a purchase.

Attracts Humans And The Search Engines

Writing the copy for a website is much different from other types of writing. Not only does website content need to engage human readers, it also needs to attract the search engines.

A professional website writer knows how to craft good website sales content that uses short paragraphs, bold headings, strategically placed keywords, and more.

Along with superior writing that gives readers the exact information they need, these techniques also work to attract the search engines for higher rankings. And we all know what higher rankings mean — more visitors and more sales.

Makes You A Great Resource

One of the fastest ways to long term success is having website content that also makes you a valuable resource within your industry. If people know your website will answer their questions, that\’s where they\’ll go every time they need information.

Not only will in-depth content make your website an outstanding resource, it will also work to make you a relevant authority in your field as you brand your business as an industry leader.

Brings Your Ideas To Life

If you\’re busy running your business, you probably don\’t have a whole lot of extra time to bring your new ideas to life. Just imagine how much you could increase your business if you had the time to follow through with new ideas.

Whether you have an idea for a seminar or coaching program, you\’d like to start a blog or write a book that increases your expert status, or have any other idea where writing content will bring your idea to life, a professional website writer can help.

These are just four of the numerous ways a website writer can help boost your business. If you\’re ready to increase your bottom line the easy way, contact a professional website writer today.

Business Development Basics

Mark Goodworthy

Growing a business is not that easy especially these days because of the abundant competition in every industry. Successful business development is achievable. Here are some of the ways on how to do it.

Know the Situation

A business will not be able to grow if whoever is in charge of it does not know the status of the business at all times. Every aspect should be taken account of. Do not only mind the production, sales, profits and other statistics. Take note of the people and the influences that affect everybody who could be a potential customer. Business development entails a lot of hard work therefore it is necessary to know exactly what you are working with and what goals you are working towards.

Set the Goal

To set the business development on its course, goals should be set. You should lay every aim and all the expectations you have. This way, it would also be systematic and working towards a clear goal is easier that a fuzzy one.

The Planning Stage

Now that the goals are clear, lay out the plan. Come up with ways on how to successfully cultivate that business development. Take note of the competition. Be smart. Be savvy. Come up with ways that would really get a large percentage of the market. Also, improve the state of the business\’ finances. There are many ways to do this, all you have to do is find the right one.

Business Development Strategies

A business is multi faceted. Thus, you can use any of these facets, or even all of them to improve the business. One example is to grow the business through development of new and quality products. You could also improve the sales side of the business by improving the sales team and advertisement department. Perhaps you will find business development in the import-export sector and aquire international clientele and associates. The business can also be improved by investing on new technologies. Another smart thing to do is find good business partners.

Maintenance

A business will forever involve risks. Once the desired business development is achieved, you should not lower your guard. Maintaining the current high status of the business is as difficult as getting there. Many would try to pull you down. So do not stop improving every aspect of the business. Others may try catching up to you, but if you keep on staying ahead, then you will remain the industry leader. The point is to never stop developing the business in a way that would benefit all those related to it.

Establishing a good brand name is vital for any online business. Just like bricks and mortar businesses, an online business needs to project itself in a positive manner and have value in order to have success. Creating a good brand name online is more than acquiring a website, having a catchy phrase and slapping on a logo. It’s not rocket science either, but there is a little work in order to set yourself apart from your competition. Three key facets for establishing and creating a successful and good brand name will be discussed.

Good Brand Name Key #1 – Know Your Audience

One of the best ways to establish a good brand name is to know your audience. Look at the following questions; What does your audience want to know? What do they want to achieve? What do they already know? Who is my audience? Why do they want to know? How do the answers to these questions relate to your business and do you have what it takes to satisfy their wants and needs? You need to be very specific with these questions. As an example, if you were to ask someone in Michigan in January, what is cold? The answer would be quite different if the same question was asked to someone in Florida. You see, get very specific when asking these types of questions and you’ll have a much better understanding of your target audience.

Good Brand Name key #2 – Competitors

Research and learn what your competitors are doing. Find what their strengths and their weaknesses are and how they are viewed by consumers. You can easily find out what people are saying about them by using current technology. Search online forums. Use Google searches. Read online articles. Use any means you can think of to find as much information as possible about your competition and where their weakness lies.

Good Brand Name Key #3 – Set Yourself Apart

Set yourself apart by using what you have learned about your competition. Use their weakness to your advantage. Your research findings, if done properly, should lead you to some audience questions that are not being satisfied effectively. Make your competitor’s weakness your strength and you will set yourself apart.

Take the time and to really find your target audience by asking yourself some simple questions. Research your competition to find some weakness you can exploit by fulfilling your audience needs. With a little research and a little work you can create a successful and good brand name.

Let’s take a look at how you can start using Webinars in your business and seven steps to help you avoid the usual pitfalls and risks when starting out with Webinars.

1. Clearly Define Your Goals

It sounds obvious, but you really need to think about the goal of your Webinar(s), so that you can measure your results. What is your goal?

To acquire leads and bring in new sales?

To educate existing customers on a new product/service?

To obtain research or feedback on an existing offer?

If you are looking to acquire leads, there are lots of potential ways to grow your leads. If you’re reaching out beyond just your internal list, the name of the game is promotion. You can promote your Webinar using Press Releases, Banner Ads, Joint Ventures, eMail Marketing to rented lists, Article Submissions, eZine Advertising, Pay-per-Click and more. If you are launching a new product or seeking feedback from your existing customers, then conducting an informational Webinar and Survey could be the an efficient method to fine tune your new project and get real-world feedback from those who matter most – your customers.

2. Choose Your Provider

Do a Google search on Webinars or Web Conferencing and you’ll get back around 1,600,000 websites returned. Truth is; there are literally hundreds of companies that offer some kind of product or service for hosting Webinars. Choosing the right vendor for your specific requirements is a critical part of your success. It can often mean the difference between a winning Webinar vs. a Webinar that burns your brand, your customers and a hole in your wallet. For small businesses you want a vendor who has a solid track record who offers the following:

Reliability and Scalability – Ability to handle large groups

Ease of use for you and your attendees – You don’t need to be a ‘techie’ to make it work

Affordability – Reasonable price for the services offered

The Big Three you want to consider are: WebEx, GoTo Meeting and Adobe Connect. There are of course other companies but these three make my short list because they score high on the three criteria listed above. Do your research and select the vendor best suited for your specific needs.

Of course, there are some Webinar providers out there that are free and they may be quite appropriate for your smaller, more collaborative web meetings with an audience who already knows you quite well. We’re talking Webinars here and that means reaching a larger audience, creating a professional image and delivering your message with minimal concerns regarding performance and reliability. Your Webinars are too critical to risk on a bare-bones service with little track record or limited history of results. Don’t step over dollars to pick up pennies.

2. Having a Compelling Title and Offer

To increase your response and maximize your attendance, you must have compelling, targeted, benefit driven topic that will capture the attention of your target audience. Find out any current hot-button issues in your industry and use those in your headline or content description. What problem or issue does your product or services help your audience over come and how will attending your Webinar help them discover a solution to their problem?

Just like testing headlines when running ads, testing email subject lines is critical to gauging response for Webinars when using email marketing. If you have a known speaker or subject matter expert, whose name is recognized among your target audience, you MUST include their name in the subject line or you are missing out on leveraging their brand or celebrity power. Test different copy and offers within your email invitation. When possible, personalize your email copy (Dear John) and write your copy as if you’re talking directly to that person one-on-one vs. a large group.

4. Make it Easy to Register

Your landing or registration page should require no more than one click to get to it. You don’t want make your audience go from the e-mail to a landing page that describes the Webinar and then have to go to another page to get to the registration form. Even worse, putting your registration page on your home page and hoping they find your link to register. Best practice is to have a single landing. On the left, put the benefit focused copy and bullet points about the Webinar. On the right, display a short registration form asking for only the information that is absolutely required.

Also, if you want to create some buzz and excitement around the event, you may want to consider offering a short teaser video clip once they register, preliminary handouts or limiting the number of ‘seats’ available and displaying how many seats are gone in real time.

Research shows that business prospects prefer more detailed copy on Webinar landing pages allowing you to go into a little more depth about the Webinar on your landing page. Adding a speaker’s bio, photo or short video –clip creates credibility and a personal connection — just make sure your registration form is up top in the right column with a big “Register Now” button above it.

5. Maximize Your Attendance

An average attendance rate to registrations is about 40% to 60% for Webinars. Being planning your webinar about six weeks out to ensure you have enough time to build out your marketing funnel and process for inviting attendees. About two to three weeks prior to your Webinar, send out your invites. One week prior, send a reminder and send out a final reminder the day before and possibly the day of if your event occurs later in the day.

You may want to offer an incentive the first 50 with a free giveaway to accelerate the early sign-ups. After your Webinar, send out a thank you to those who attended with any pertinent information. For those who registered and didn’t attend, send a “sorry we missed you” email with links to the recording, and related offer.

6. WOW! Factor Presentations

Too many starting out with Webinars repeat the same mistakes often made during in-person presentations; death by Power Point, boring presenter, little or no audience interaction and lack of compelling offer or call to action at the conclusion. Webinars offer you the ability to integrate multiple forms of visual media beyond Power Point such as video, polling, Q&A, instant feedback tools and more. You can share your desktop, take your audience by the hand and browse your website for live demos, case studies and more. Anyone can put up a slide deck and read bullet points. If that’s all you do, you’ll lose them in New York minute because they can read the bullet points themselves.

Put yourself in your audience’s shoes. Have you ever tuned out a boring presenter? It’s amplified even more during a Webinar because people are sitting at their desks and staring at a slide show, listening either via their computer or conference line. At least in person you can make eye contact, and get up-close to keep their attention. In a Webinar you have just two tools to keep your audiences attention. Your voice and your presentation. Don’t let them fall asleep! You keep your audience engaged by making your presentation relevant, interactive and lively. How do you capture and keep the attention of your audience in a virtual environment like a Webinar?

7. Follow-Up, Follow-Up, Follow-Up

After your Webinar, your prospects are in the perfect frame of mind to learn more and be receptive to another offer from you. Be sure to add links to either the main offer or other related offers and up-sells in your e-mail. I’ve seen studies that show nearly 40 percent of thank-you recipients who visited a special post-Webinar thank-you page took advantage of another offer. Of course, integrating phone follow-up for higher conversion is smart if appropriate for your situation.

Most companies fail to recycle or leverage their Webinar content for ongoing marketing and PR benefits. You put a lot of time and money into developing and delivering your Webinars, so be sure to get the most out of them. Here are some tips:

Archive all your recorded Webinars and post them on your website. Consider a single URL that lists all your Webinars and provides a short summary of each event.

To encourage site visits and repeat traffic, consider branding the page as an educational library and also include your white papers, eNewsletter archives, and other content that is of interest to your target audience.

Submit your Webinar library URL to major search engines to boost your search engine rankings. Promote your URL in all your marketing and sales collateral including any advertisements both online an offline.

Promote the URL at the bottom of your email signature to continue building your opt-in list.

At the conclusion of your Webinars, consider a post-event press release summarizing the event and providing some of the most interesting Q&A topics.

Running an online business is not a walk in the park; contrary to the popular belief that you can work from anywhere and earn thousands online while relaxing on the beach, successful Internet businesses require work. However, the most successful online entrepreneurs and marketers have succeeded in building their businesses from nothing and are earn six figures online by building virtual teams, which handle their workload. Due to low costs, you will find that having access to your very one team of remote workers will take your business to the next level by allowing you to scale up your sales and lead generation.

To ensure your virtual team works well together and is efficient, you should see them in person at least once. Even if everyone will be working virtually, this meeting will establish that the work is to be taken seriously and will also prove a great opportunity for the members to get to know each other. Experts feel that it is worth doing, no matter what the costs involved are. Meeting your team members will allow you to share a lot of facts that you wouldn’t be okay sharing online; this also tends to grow the trust amongst different members.

If you want your team to perform better and give consistent results, then lead by example. Consider that this is your show, and that means you simply must be able to fulfill your obligations as a leader.

People will sense how committed you are to them by your words and actions, so keep that in mind with your team. Remember that if you have a lot of negativity, then your team will begin to withdraw from you. Do not neglect helping your team with the use of positive feedback at every opportunity you get. You should not overlook this important aspect of running a high performance team.

You can really create a lasting impact on a person with the right kind of feedback to them about how well they are doing. But do not neglect those who are not performing well, and you should make a strong effort to troubleshoot the problem. Never let more than a few months to pass before providing feedback. It is true that a virtual team can be a tremendously valuable asset to any business. Among all the concerns you will have to be aware of, the most potentially volatile will be with communications with your team. When you think about it, you have to communicate in order for everything to get done.

In order to survive in the increasing demands of the workloads that our management offers, we need to keep ourselves from worrying a lot and be more focused on what are the effective ways of building confidence in a team.

Team building involves goal setting and a game plan. A virtual organization must always begin a strategy plan with the goal. You cannot hit a target that you don’t have your eyes clearly set upon. So setting goals is where the productivity begins. When you have a goal, you can then immediately proceed to the next step of team building.

The contemporary management scene also requires that team building strategies should include the understanding of virtual organization and community. Virtual organizations are built so that logistical, personnel and critical resource issues can be addressed. The use of telecommunication and other computing technologies have become the defining ground of any virtual organization. Taking this into consideration is a must in any management and team building initiative.

Virtual organization team building should also become more competent in the development and the creation of a strong team that is highly flexible, honest, inspirational and innovative. The innovative techniques to be used in building the qualities of a team results in developing, an energizing, highly efficient and inspiring organization.

A good way also to build a team in a virtual organization is the kind of motivation the team builder must create. Motivational talks, tools and strategies are designed to let the team members embrace the leadership role and to help them realize their goals and worth in the changing course of time.

Another strategy is to revitalize your team and organization through off-site retreats for one to two days. It really helps to be with nature as you work to amp up the process of company revitalization. The renewal of advocacy vows should be integrated with the aim of providing easy ways of handling responsibilities.

The need for innovation should also be integrated in the team building process. The need for a change is very significant in today’s defining moment. A change in the team members’ values and attitude towards work is also suggested as a major strategy for success.

Don’t lose heart. Persist in developing your team. Team building can be a very exciting job when the participants are willing to be changed for the better.

By Dean DeLisle

A Client Story

During an intense planning session last month with a rather large and progressive client, the owner stood up and shouted, “This planning is great, but if we can’t execute we will certainly “Sink this Business!”. For when we return to work on Monday we have two choices, we can just show up and let “The River” take us, or we can be smart and steer the river where we need it to go. We can’t fight it, but we can steer it and it will work with us as long as we play it smart. We have gotten here by working hard and showing up everyday; however the business (River) runs us at this point. We don’t run it. That needs to change NOW!”

It was brilliant! He had the realization that even though they had a tremendous system, the one they have forgotten was the most important one. How do they implement the great changes that were critical for them to continue their success?

That had me thinking, as we walk into companies, we often see this on a regular basis where there are things that are very apparent to us, however this is because we are looking from the outside in, we are not “in the river”, we are on the banks looking in and can see which way the water is flowing. We can see the rocks before you hit them, we can see the fish before you catch them…or miss them.

Then we began to discuss internally how companies today are dealing with their own “River”. We broke it down into three categories:

1) Swimming – knowing the current, reading the map, looking at the landscape and going with the river, however consciously getting out on the bank every week, looking ahead, making good choices and then diving back in.

2) Floating – seems to be very popular, they typically have an okay run rate, might have reserves, key accounts, they are not growing, not shrinking, but hanging on and waiting for the river to take them to the place they have always known – the good economy, the comfort place, where if they open up for the day customers will show up, they will then close up every week and be okay. This works for a while, but as many of our clients know, there will come a day!

3) Sinking – just simply showing up, refusing to jump up on the bank and take a look around; they actually feel that their efforts, their swimming, is keeping them afloat or even progressing, however unless they step out, they will keep sinking.

For this final quarter of a very tough year, do yourself a favor and jump up on the bank starting now and every week. Take a look at the next section of the river and jump back in with more clarity and knowledge. Ride the current of the fourth quarter and its waves to success!

By Michael Angelo Caruso

Strong sales are the lifeblood of every thriving organization. Effective salespeople maintain contact with their sales network. Successful salespeople view rejection as temporary. They constantly work to uncover and deal with objections.

Here are 5 Cool Ideas for stronger sales.

1. Network “five deep.”

The idea is to network throughout the buyer’s organization, making sure everyone knows how to reach you and why they should want to reach you. Communicate with the primary contact’s immediate supervisor, an accounts payable representative, the purchasing agent and the primary contact’s assistant.

2. Consistent contact is essential.

If your product or service is competitively priced, customers and prospects are likely to keep you on their vendor list. You will be removed from the list, however, if your contact with them is irregular or uncaring. According to the book, Guerrilla Marketing, by Jay Conrad Levinson and Seth Godin, 69% of dissatisfied customers leave due to inconsistent or nonexistent contact.

3. It’s never “no,” it’s “no for now.”

If a prospect refuses to purchase, do not consider this a rejection. In fact, a non -purchase is an opportunity to uncover an objection. If you can’t close someone, odds are they can refer you to another prospect. Leverage the six degrees of separation by asking, “Who do you know that would be interested in my product/service?”

4. Objections should be challenged.

Most sellers struggle when hearing comments such as, “I need more time to think about this” and “I’m not interested.” Is the prospect unqualified or just veiling an objection? Ask bold questions to probe further. Ask in a soft “librarian tone” so you don’t seem pushy. Say things like, “It’s interesting that you should say that. Please tell me why you need more time” and “I’m surprised that you’re not interested.” Act as if not doing business with you is the most unpredictable response you’ve ever heard.

5. Objections are opportunities.

First, test the objection to see if it is legitimate. Then, deal with the objection. Beware of “The Flinch,” a common price objection that is usually a bluff. Remember that just because prospects object to the price, doesn’t mean they are unwilling to pay that price. In a worst-case scenario, price objections can be handled by trading value. “Our product is worth every penny, but if you’d like to pay less we can shorten your warranty.” Strong sellers, of course, wouldn’t advise prospects to shorten the warranty because it would discount the excellent value offered. In my sales training seminars, I teach sellers to have an answer to every conceivable objection. By thinking five moves ahead, sellers can use objections to move the prospect closer toward an affirmative decision.
